Finally a program that presents both sides of grant writing! Listen to agency representatives from NEH and IMLS as well as an accomplished academic librarian address the many aspects of writing successful grants.

This program will benefit the novice proposal writer and those who want to improve their grantwriting skills. Speakers will share their experiences on: idea generation, identifying appropriate funding sources, writing successful proposals, collaboration with other academic units/departments, evaluation criteria agencies use, contributing factors to successful grants and strategies for avoiding common pitfalls, when to hire a professional grant-writer and best practices that work for libraries.

We will be collecting donations to the " Hurricane Katrina Library Relief Fund" at the program. To make a donation online, visit the Web site. Here is the official purpose of the fund:

Libraries serve as a cornerstone for a community, providing support and resources for everyone. Libraries in the Gulf Coast region have been damaged and destroyed. To help rebuild these vital cornerstones of community is accepting donations, which will be distributed to the behalf of the Chapters (state library associations) in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The funds will be used to help buy new materials, furniture and equipment, and facility construction.
