PLA offering video contest to win registration and travel to PLA 2014

CHICAGO – The Public Library Association (PLA) has just announced a new contest for two library professionals to win their way to the , March 11-15, in Indianapolis. The contest requires participants to submit a 60-second (or less) video telling PLA why they want to attend PLA 2014. Two winners will receive a free registration, four nights hotel, and up to $500 reimbursement for travel to and from the conference.

The top five videos (determined by members of the PLA Conference Committee) will be posted to the for voting. The videos with the most votes on Facebook win! Submissions will be judged based on clear, compelling, and creative video statements. We look forward to seeing your videos!

The deadline to is 4:30 PM Central, Monday, Jan. 13, 2014. The top five videos will be posted on the PLA Facebook Page on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.

Some Guidelines:

  • Videos should be a maximum length of 60 seconds. Suitable file types are .mp4, .wmv, .mov no larger than 100 MB.
  • Submissions will be judged based on clear, compelling and creative video statements.
  • If your library submits the video, only one person from the library can receive the prize.
  • If you’ve already registered for PLA 2014, you’re still eligible! We’ll simply credit your registration costs.

Offered biennially, PLA Conference is the premier event for public libraries, drawing librarians, library support staff, trustees, friends and library vendors from across the country and around the world.
