CHICAGO–Join Core on August 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. CT for the webinar “Best of Core at Annual Conference: Co-worker to Supervisor; Managing Previous Peers.” The past two years changed so much in our industry that more managers are choosing to retire or reduce their hours, which in turn creates exciting new openings. Here we will closely examine the excitement, reward, pitfalls and demands that come from the transition from co-worker to supervisor. Group discussions will focus on internal promotions and upward mobility. Also encouraged to attend are coworkers looking to support peers as they move into supervisory and leadership roles, as well as managers and directors who want to ensure that recognizing potential and promoting from within will maintain healthy dynamics within the library. With an emphasis on the positive effect of clear equitable mentoring and network activities, we will share tips and strategies to build diverse, inclusive and empowered leadership. We will focus on new networks, how to set and maintain a professional tone and how to manage the balance between old relationships and new responsibilities.
