CHICAGO—The recipients of the 2018 Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Outstanding Publication Award are Alana Nuth (publishing as Verminski) and Kelly Marie Blanchat for their volume, “” ( Neal-Schuman, 2017).

The Outstanding Publication Award is given annually to honor the author or authors of the year's outstanding monograph, article or original paper in the field of technical services, including acquisitions, cataloging, collection management, preservation, continuing resources and related areas in the library field. Nuth and Blanchat will receive a citation and a $250 monetary award on June 23 at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2018 Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans, La.

“Fundamentals of Electronic Resources Management” is a much-needed addition to the professional literature. As the first book-length treatment of the topic in several years, Nuth and Blanchat’s approach to the topic is both innovative and engaging, addressing the most current issues in electronic resources in a way that is technically detailed and precise without sacrificing accessibility or breadth of relevance. This work also offers new ways of thinking about electronic resources management in the context of evolving trends in collection development and higher education, reflecting current thought in the field and suggesting possible areas of innovation for practitioners working at various levels and within various types of organizations. This work also includes sections on marketing electronic resources and managing open access resources, extending its usefulness to library professionals outside of electronic resources management units. “Fundamentals of Electronic Resources Management” reminds us that a new addition to an established genre can make a significant contribution to the profession and introduce a level of quality worthy of acknowledgement.

Nuth is the collection development librarian at the Bailey/Howe Library at the University of Vermont. Her interest in electronic resources management began while working at the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Library in St. Mary’s City, Md. She holds an MSIS from The University of Texas at Austin.

Blanchat is the undergraduate teaching and outreach librarian at Yale University Library. Before joining Yale, she worked as the electronic resources librarian at Queens College Libraries at the City University of New York and as an account specialist at Springer Science + Business Media.

The (ALCTS) is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, collection development, preservation and continuing resources in digital and print formats. ALCTS is a division of the �������ϲʿ���app.
