Learn to create out-of-this-world kids’ science programming at ’s 2016 Midwinter Meeting

BOSTON — Library professionals are invited to a special in-depth learning session, “Creating Out-of-This-World Children’s Science Programming with Free NASA Resources,” at the.

The session will be held from 1 to 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Boston Convention Center.

The program, one of three Deep Dive sessions offered at the Midwinter Meeting, will give participants the opportunity to try a variety of NASA hands-on activities for children and their families, which were developed for use in libraries and use inexpensive materials. Participants will receive guides to upcoming celestial, Earth and NASA mission events, such as International Observe the Moon Night, and learn how to bring these, and other connections, to our world and space exploration to communities.

The session will be led by Keliann LaConte, informal education lead at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Texas, and Wini Ashooh, youth services librarian at Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Virginia. The session is co-sponsored by the Public Programs Office and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC). For more information, visit .

Advance registration is required for Deep Dive sessions, which can be included with initial Midwinter Meeting registration or added later using the unique link in your registration confirmation email. To receive CEUs, a participant must attend the entire course and complete a post-session evaluation.
