Author signings, ARCs and more at 'Spotlight on Adult Literature' at Midwinter

PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries, along with Conference Services, will sponsor “Spotlight on Adult Literature” from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the McCormick Place West Exhibit Hall at the 2015 Midwinter Meeting in Chicago.

Participating publishers will host book and galley giveaways, author signings and more.

Perseus Books Group (booth 4126) will host author signings by Cecilia Ekback (“Wolf Winter,” Weinstein Books) and Tara Altebrando (“My Life in Dioramas,” Running Press Kids), both at 2 p.m., and Josh Wilker (“Benchwarmer,” PublicAffairs) at 3 p.m.

Consortium Book Sales & Distribution (booth 4129) will give away copies of “The Surfacing” by Cormac James (Bellevue Literary Press).

Simon & Schuster (booth 4411) will give away ARCs of “The Luckiest Girl Alive” by Jessica Knoll. Stop by Simon & Schuster during exhibit hours on Friday or Saturday to register to win a gift basket of great book club books. The winner will be announced at 4 p.m. at the close of Spotlight on Adult Literature.

Harlequin (booth 4414) will present bestselling author Mary Kubica, who will be signing and giving away hardcover copies of her debut novel "The Good Girl."

W.W. Norton (booth 4416) will give away ARCs of “Words Without Music: A Memoir” by Philip Glass, “Best Boy: A Novel” by Eli Gottlieb, “Night at the Fiestas: Stories” by Kirstin Valdez Quade, “The Green Road: A Novel” by Anne Enright, “Hammer Head: The Making of a Carpenter” by Nina MacLaughlin, “Bastards: A Memoir,” by Mary Anna King and “The Love She Left Behind: A Novel” by Amanda Coe.

Macmillan Adult (booth 4613) will give away assorted ARCs.

Hachette Book Group (booth 4711) will give away galleys of “Delicious Foods” by James Hannaham (Little, Brown, March 2015); “Prudence” by Gail Carriger (Orbit, March 2015) and “Saint Mazie” by Jamie Attenberg (Grand Central Publishing, June 2015).

Random House (booth 4721) will host author signings by Irvine Welsh (“The Secret Life of Siamese Twins,” 2-2:30 p.m.); Sasha Martin, (“Life from Scratch: A Memoir of Food, Family and Forgiveness,” 2:30-3 p.m.), and Lori Rader-Day (“Little Pretty Things,” 3:30-4 p.m.).

Penguin Publishing Group (booth 4823) will host signings from 2-3 p.m. featuring Chloe Neill (“Dark Debt: A Chicagoland Vampire Novel”), Elizabeth Blackwell (“While Beauty Slept”) and Jacqueline Carey (“Poison Fruit: Agents of Hel”). Galleys will be given away from 2-4 p.m.
