CHICAGO — Library publishing is the featured presentation at the Midwinter Forum of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services () at the upcoming Midwinter Meeting in Chicago.

The ALCTS Forum focuses on “Libraries as Publishers: Next Steps in Self-Publishing?” The Forum takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2. Location will be available at a later date. Look to the “News You Can Use” schedule for this and other important sessions.

What is library publishing? And more specifically, how can it work for your library and your patrons? Come hear experts from public and academic libraries speak about their new and up-and-running library publishing programs. Learn innovate ways that libraries are supporting self-publishing both as a community service and as part of the library’s mission… and how libraries are taking steps to ensuring good quality products along the way.

Presented by Chris Le Beau and Heather Lea Moulaison, Steven Potter of The Woodneath Press and Allison Brown answer these questions and more.

Plan on attending to:

• learn about examples of library publishing and electronic publishing to take back to their administrators and boards;
• learn about best-practices for engaging and working with different kinds of self-publishing patrons;
• develop an understanding of additional resources (such as the freely online Library Publishing Toolkit) to help them think further about publishing in their libraries.
