Frances Wilkinson receives this award in recognition of her significant contributions and outstanding leadership in the field of library acquisitions. Ms. Wilkinson has served in various positions in acquisitions since 1984 and distinguishes herself in library acquisitions by her unique contributions to the body of research and scholarship in acquiring electronic- and print-based information for our libraries. Her outstanding body of publications comprises a wide range of topics with focused research on developing RFP's, negotiating with vendors, managing book and serial acquisitions, and educating librarians and staff working in this specialized area of librarianship. She serves on the editorial boards of Serials Review, Library and Information Science Annual and American Reference Books Annual. She has made significant contributions to NASIG, , and the New Mexico Library Association. Like many of her predecessors for this award, she provides innovative leadership at the University of New Mexico Library and has progressed within the organization to assume broader responsibilities. She brings vision and focus to acquisitions librarianship, serving as an inspiration and challenge to all of us.
