Dan Tonkery has a broad range of accomplishments that spans 35 years as a serials librarian. In his first dozen years as a serials cataloger he was involved in the founding and building of the National Serials Data Program and CONSER. For 20 years after that he was a serials vendor for Faxon, EBSCO, and other companies--founding some, while helping established companies become better and more responsive to library needs. Dan has presented extensively at library conferences, has written extensively, has served as an editor for Serials Review, and has been active in many professional library associations, including the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app and North American Serials Interest Group.

The award is given for distinguished contributions to serials librarianship, including but not limited to those made within the previous three years, demonstrated by such activities as leadership in serials-related activities through participation in professional associations and/or library education programs, contributions to the body of serials literature, conduct of research in the area of serials, development of tools or methods to enhance access to or management of serials, other advances leading to a better understanding of the field of serials.
