Becky Ryder exemplifies the essence of preservation collaboration that George Cunha andSusan Swartzburg, early preservation pioneers, epitomized. Ryder’s contributions to thepreservation profession are evident by her leadership in academic, regional and national collaborative preservation efforts and in her long service record in , PARS, and other professional organizations. Her ongoing commitment to advancing library and archival preservation has been achieved through teaching in formal educational and professional development settings and mentoring individuals. She has set the pathway for transforming the University of Kentucky Library microfilming operation into a digital collaborative operation that serves the needs of the state of Kentucky and partners with the National Digital Newspaper Program, thereby providing widespread access to preserved Kentuckiana.
