The Queens Memory project is dedicated to digitizing, preserving and providing access to the local history of Queens, N.Y. The project combines historical and contemporary photography, maps, news clippings and other documents with oral history interviews of current residents. The wide range of collaborators includes the Queens Library, Queens College Libraries’ Department of Special Collections and Archives, Queens Historical Society, Whirl-i-Gig, StoryCorps and the community of Queens at large. One jury member wrote, “This project is likely to become an industry standard.” Another wrote, “I feel this type of collaboration is what will help keep libraries vital and important to the people we serve for years to come.” For more information about the project, visit .
