Sherry Vellucci has done a masterful job presenting the different types of 'metadata' and explaining the raison d'etre behind them. She has forcefully articulated the reasons for the success of authority control in a bibliographic environment. She convincingly extrapolates from these to offer suggestions to evaluate the success of attempting authority control in the current metadata climate. In sum, she has covered a range of complex issues in the course of presenting a well-reasoned analysis of traditional authority control and its future potential in the online environment.
