Jan Merrill-Oldham is a recognized leader in the field of preservation. She has presented at numerous conferences and served as author or editor of more than forty publications. She has been an active participant in many organizations and has worked tirelessly on innumerable committees and task forces developing standards and helping to shape the national preservation agenda. Jan’s most significant contribution has been her role in improving library binding and thereby improving the preservation of library materials. She has provided leadership in the development of the landmark 1986 Library Binding Institute’s Standard for Library Binding ; has worked diligently to educate librarians about quality binding; and continues to serve the preservation and binding communities through her service with NISO standards for binding.
