The twenty-seven-minute video takes the viewer to the studio of Eric Carle, the creator of such classic picture books as The Very Hungry Caterpillar. "Carle shows how he paints his own paper for collage art to create a picture of his beloved caterpillar," said Marilyn Iarusso, chair of the Carnegie Award Selection Committee. "The video uses imaginatively selected footage to convey an intimate portrait of one of the most beloved author-illustrators of children's picture books."
