Demas and Brogdon investigate the topic of how to determine copyright status for titles under consideration for preservation reformatting or for scanning for the digital library. The article is well-written, interesting, and practical. It is a well researched, logical presentation of a complicated issue and a welcome addition to the literature of technical services.
