Karen Darling's contributions to the profession are reflected in her sustained leadership role in acquisitions librarianship and in her long service record to , to ALCTS, and to other professional library associations. Karen has been elected to key offices in ALCTS and has taken a leadership role on many ALCTS committees. She has been active in helping develop serial standards and shares her expertise with others through her
presentations at national conferences. She has been a mentor to many students who complete practicum in her department or who enroll in the class she teaches at the University of Missouri School of Information Science and Learning Technologies. Through this work, she is helping shape the professionals of the future.
