The academic and practical accomplishments of Dr. Michèle V. Cloonan represent a long, diverse and
extremely active career dedicated to promoting preservation in practice, theory and in graduate- and
doctoral level education. Since her career began in 1974, Dr. Cloonan has amassed an impressive list of
accomplishments: her extensive research and publications forms a major contribution to the literature of preservation; her influence and leadership in preservation education and curriculum development is
incomparable; and her active leadership in preservation organizations is a testament to her commitment to the profession. During her 25 year teaching career, Dr. Cloonan has profoundly affected preservation
education, as well as the careers of many students. She has been a dedicated mentor and generous in sharing her scholarship and research which covers an extensive range of preservation issues. Always gracious and
approachable, her contributions to the profession of preservation are, and will continue to be, long-lasting.
