Describe ACRL in three words:

Connections, exchanges, growth.

What do you value about ACRL?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

ACRL has provided me with a space to connect with peers, jointly create professional development programming, and facilitate dialogues on challenges and practices that enhance our profession. ACRL also made it possible for my peers and me to publish “Academic Librarian Burnout: Causes and Responses”, a book that offers ways to discuss burnout in our work environments and provides preventative intervention and mitigation strategies. It feels wonderful to have ACRL support us in pursuing new avenues of inquiry that promote positive transformations of our profession.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

Within my role, I get to support research, teaching, learning, and community-building activities on campus. I coordinate existing digital archival efforts related to Furman’s history, and expand the Libraries’ digital collections with more diverse, inclusive, and accessible historical records.

In your own words

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

Being an academic librarian and archivist has opened up many opportunities for professional and personal growth. I get to be part of a dynamic landscape, advocate for the value of our work, get students excited about primary sources, and collaborate with faculty and staff in unique initiatives. Knowing that librarianship is constantly evolving as a profession, especially in an academic environment, there's always a chance to learn and teach new skills and tools, look at things from different angles, connect with people, and pose new questions.
