What do you value about ACRL?

I value ACRL for all of the people I have met and the things I have learned. I have gotten so many ideas from ACRL conferences, articles, and colleagues, ideas that have split open my day-to-day work and made me think of my work, career, ideas, and values in new ways. ACRL's Assessment in Action program has been one of the most influential experiences of my career. It has allowed me to work to translate the work libraries do into a value that the institutions I have worked for understand.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

I connect people to ideas and I connect people to other people. I navigate systems to provide the best possible services and collections to our community.

In your own words

My route to librarianship was not preplanned but has certainly been exciting. I feel like life threw librarianship in my path, so I have taken it up and run with it. I have found that in librarianship I can find ways to use all my talents, quirks, and education in various and unexpected ways. One day I can be writing a professional report, the next I’m dressed as a unicorn passing out candy, and then posting a poll to a class as to whether Baby Groot or Baby Yoda (Grogu) is cuter in preparation to teach students to find and evaluate information. How many other professions can say that?
