I usually have several books on the go. Currently I am reading: "1759" by Frank McLynn; "Surprise Me" by Sophie Kinsella; "The Stupidest Sports Book of All Time" by Kathryn and Ross Petras; "Invisible Labor" edited by Marion G. Crain, et al.; and when I am in a social distancing queue it’s Alan Bennett’s "The Lady in the Van".

I value ACRL as a connection point. Since becoming a member, I’ve met amazing people who have guided me with their wisdom; accessed ACRL’s plethora of knowledge for the current situation within the academic libraries’ community; and taken advantage of opportunities ACRL provides that have been nothing but stellar for my learning experience and career.

In my para-professional/staff role, I’m most proud of the contribution I’ve made to faculty research. The responsibilities of faculty members consume an enormous amount of time. My role in establishing and maintaining a personal professional relationship with faculty has altered how some faculty conduct their research, and in turn they have come to see the library as a trusted partner for their work.

As an undergraduate student, I learned how important it was to make a “friend” in the library. From providing an extended loan period to teaching me how to navigate “Old Class”, the assistance I received from the library was invaluable. Now, I am that approachable “friend” that makes using an intensive research library comprehensible and provide students with practical learning opportunities that shapes them as future scholars and prepares them for life after graduation.
