Valuable, visionary, supportive.

What do you value about ACRL?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

As a long-time member of ACRL, I've valued different aspects of the association over time. As a new academic librarian, I especially appreciated the professional development and networking opportunities at ACRL conferences and webinars. Serving on section committees and on editorial boards was a wonderful experience for me, I appreciated learning from my colleagues across the country and boosting their work. ACRL's suite of publications are the first place I look to learn about new ideas in librarianship. I've been lucky to publish with ACRL and the editorial staff is unfailingly helpful, supportive, and fun to work with.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

Our amazing team of librarians at UW brings an amazing commitment to the teaching, research and outreach missions of the university. In my role as associate dean, I try to make space for innovative new ideas and provide support for library workers in their daily operations. Identifying resources and methods to support excellence and to address challenges is a lot of my work. I'm committed to providing training and professional development for our team, and to increasing our commitment to diversity and equity in the academic library.

In your own words

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

Academic libraries have given me a chance to serve in multiple roles and take on lots of interesting projects. This job is never boring, and I know it won't stay static. One of the joys of working in an academic library is watching the changes and new ideas realized in library services. Each year, our students rank the library as one of the top elements of their college experience. It is amazing to see their success, and the research projects produced by faculty, all of which are informed by library services.
