I love historical fiction and am reading the Maisie Dobbs series, set in 1930s and 40s London. I am also working my way through every car, spaceship and train book available at our public library with my 3 year old.

Mines is a mid-sized STEM university and I love learning from colleagues at all different types of institutions; their successes and struggles. ACRL conferences, webinars and workshops provide me with the opportunity to reflect on my practice at Mines and learn from others. I am always invigorated and inspired by the work our colleagues are doing in their libraries.

As the lead teaching librarian, I teach information literacy lessons across our curriculum, from petroleum engineering to composition courses. I work closely with classroom faculty to design and assess the lessons. I am excited about my work currently to expand our IL reach on campus by developing tutorials and micro-lessons that can be embedded in our LMS, Canvas. These new learning materials will enable faculty to reinforce IL concepts without overwhelming our limited instruction staffing capability in the library.

I have really appreciated the opportunity to co-edit the ACRL Scholarly Communications Cookbook with my colleague, Emily Bongiovanni. I have learned so much from our talented recipe authors about their work across open access, instruction, open education, open science, and other forms of outreach and support along the research lifecycle.
