Describe yourself in three words

Curious, collaborative, student-focused.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

I’m currently reading "The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters" by Priya Parker. Parker writes about how we can create meaning and connection in our interactions with others, something that seems more important than ever. I’m also reading "The Henna Artist" by Alka Joshi for one of my book clubs. Joshi will be joining our Zoom meeting and I can’t wait to meet her.

Describe ACRL in three words:

Learning, conversation, forward-thinking.

What do you value about ACRL?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

I value how ACRL members continuously challenge themselves and each other to grow and evolve. Despite being a large organization, it really feels like a community of practice. The ACRL Framework, along with countless webinars and conference sessions, has fundamentally changed my approach to teaching information literacy. I appreciate the opportunities we have to learn from each other.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

I oversee our information literacy and outreach programs. It’s my goal for us to build authentic relationships with learners and their learning, valuing their past experiences as well as the skills and prior knowledge they bring with them. I want student to see our library, and librarians, as welcoming and inclusive.

In your own words

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±app

A campus colleague recently inspired me to see this strange time we’re living in as an opportunity to reinvent and rethink our work. Instead of “returning to normal”, what lessons can we learn and apply? I know that libraries and librarians will continue to play an important role in the teaching and learning programs of our colleges and I’m excited to be a part of this transformation.
